Lake Superior Lodge Embraces Techology
June 1, 2021 | Lake Superior Lodge | Bayfield Wisconsin
Bayfield Wis --- The Lake Superior Lodge is located in Bayfield Wisconsin on the shores of Lake Superior in Chequamegon Bay. The Lake Superior Lodge, formerly the Winfield Inn, was purchased in March of 2021, and immediately underwent many upgrades in the hotel rooms and condo units. The rooms were modernized with up-to-date decor, flooring, linens, color schemes, and accouterments.
Emergence of Covid-19 Safety Protocols
Another upgrade that took place was that we embraced the AirBNB model, which includes a keyless entry utilizing private entryways. This was something that came about with the emergence of Covid-19 safety protocols brought down from the State of Wisconsin, Bayfield County and City of Bayfield health professionals. Instead of fighting with sanitizing physical keys, burdening housekeeping with additional tasks, we went the route of embracing technology.
The Pandemic forced a lot of businesses to make changes that would allow them to operate within the parameters of local and national health professional guidelines. Hoteliers are no exception. As you can imagine, with any changes, there are pros and cons of contactless and online check-in processes.
‘Contactless’ has become the biggest buzzword in hospitality. The Schlage locks provide a safe and private entry process allowing every guest to access their room and perform a self check-in once inside the room. The Schlage locks are programmed every Monday with new access codes, and each guest is provided a unique access code each and every stay.
While we scoured the earth for the most effective solutions that were both cutting-edge, and user-friendly, we came across the ResNexus Self Check-In proces which allows guests to enter the rooms in a matter of seconds, scan a QR code, or click a link to check themselves in. There is no need to come face to face with staff members, and everything is contactless from check-in to check-out.
Traditional Hotel Check-In
As most of you reading this would already realize that the traditional hotel check-in model from ancient times includes standing in line 20+ minutes to eventually go through a 15 minute check-in process with a hotel clerk. This process typically includes running your card for incidentals, signing the hotel guest agreement and then getting your key card or physical key.
As an avid traveler, I disliked sitting in front of the desk while I arrive at 11pm, and need to be up by 7:00am for a meeting, sports tournament, or conference. Now, if you're checking in to your Las Vegas hotel, expect this wait to be closer to 45 minutes to an hour. That's not a problem we see in Bayfield Wisconsin, but those types of wait times do exist.
Lake Superior Lodge Check-In
Our check-in process is simple. Upon arrival to the Lake Superior Lodge, you can open up your email entitled, "Your Upcoming Stay at the Lake Superior Lodge", and this is where you will find your 4-digit access code, parking information, map of the property, wifi passwords, and information on "things to do in Bayfield Wisconsin". Once in the room, you can use the signage to scan the QR code for the self check-in process, or click the link in the Welcome email.
There is no waiting in line, no standing at a front desk for 15 minutes, and no messing with key cards that weren't activated. You simply walk up to your door, enter your 4-digit access code and voila, you're in.
If you elected to use the app, you simply scan the QR code on the door and follow the steps to check-in online.
